We know that paying for roofing work can feel intimidating, especially if you have had negative experiences in the past. Many homeowners tell us they have dealt with roofers who quoted too low, added costs later, asked for money upfront and then disappeared, or over-promised and under-delivered. Unfortunately, that does happen in this industry, and we fully understand the hesitation it creates.
At Joseph James Roofing, we believe in clarity, fairness, and trust from day one. We do not believe in vague pricing, hidden charges, or awkward conversations around money. Everything is discussed openly, agreed in advance, and confirmed clearly between both parties so there are no surprises for anyone.
Why do we require staged payments? We require payments in stages because we cannot realistically fund multiple projects at the same time, while carrying the full financial risk if jobs are delayed, cancelled, or fall through. This structure allows us to commit properly to your work, organise labour and materials responsibly, and deliver the job to a high standard, while ensuring you only pay in line with progress and agreed milestones.
To make this as clear as possible, below is a simple, real-world example showing exactly how our payment structure works on a typical job.
Payment structure applies to all projects over £250, anything less & Joseph James Roofing will provide materials up front, and will be made whole upon works completion.
For all projects over £250, an itemised invoice will be Emailed to the homeowner.
Example Below:

Here is an example.
We submit an invoice of £1,000 to you for works required.
£500 labour, £500 materials. You accept the invoice, and instruct Joseph James Roofing to proceed with the works.
You send Joseph James Roofing £500 as initial deposit payment for materials, we confirm payment has been received.
Joseph James Roofing starts the works.
Once 50% of the works is completed, you send Joseph James Roofing 50% of the labour cost (in this case £250).
We continue with the works once we have received the 50% labour cost.
Once the works are complete, and you are satisfied with the works, you send the remaining 50% labour cost (in this case £250).
We confirm the payment has been received.
All done! We thank you for using Joseph James Roofing services and kindly ask if you would provide a review for our future customers.
